Traditional Putty Glazing & Specialist Remedial Work

For listed buildings, conservation areas, and anyone who refuses to lose original 18th–20th century windows, we are genuine experts in traditional putty-fronted glazing and full remedial restoration.

When Modern Replacement Just Isn’t Allowed (or Wanted)

Heritage officers, Article 4 directions, and Grade I/II* listings often insist on retention and repair rather than replacement. We make your original timber or metal windows look and perform beautifully again – legally, sympathetically, and permanently.

Our Traditional Putty Glazing & Remedial Services

  1. Full Re-Glazing with Hand-Applied Linseed-Oil Putty
    • Removal of cracked, loose, or failed putty
    • Re-bedding on traditional linseed-oil putty
    • Hand-finished traditional “flat-front” profile to match original appearance
    • Single glazing or slim heritage double-glazed units (14–18 mm) where permitted

Sash & Casement Remedial Repairs

  • Removal of cracked, loose, or failed putty
  • Re-bedding on traditional linseed-oil putty
  • Hand-finished traditional “flat-front” profile to match original appearance
  • Re-cording and re-weighting of traditional box sash windows

Critical Metal Window Restoration

  • Removal of cracked, loose, or failed putty
  • Re-bedding on traditional linseed-oil putty
  • Hand-finished traditional “flat-front” profile to match original appearance

Why Keep & Repair?

  • Retain original crown or cylinder glass ripples and imperfections
  • Maintain architectural integrity and character
  • Often cheaper than full replacement once planning battles are avoided

We are trusted by conservation officers, architects, and hundreds of period-home owners around Surrey and surrounding areas.

Contact us for a free heritage survey – if your windows can be saved, we’ll save them the right way, first time.
